Letterpress Workshops
Do you want more than just a tour? If you want to get a more hands on approach we are also offering individual (or very small groups) printing workshops where you can design, typeset and print your own projects using our vintage typefaces, inks and printing presses.
We'll start with a quick health and safety chat then move on to how the printworks is set out and where to find everything. You'll then have the opportunity to get creative and plan your project. We'll discuss the best way to produce it and show you how to set everything up. You should aim to print something fairly simple and not expect to typeset and produce a full page of text during this short workshop.
As we use traditional methods there is also a drying time associated, works may need to be collected at a later date or posted if you are visiting the printworks from out of town.
Workshops are run in the mornings usually starting between 10 - 12am. The workshop is intensive and lasts about three hours. The machinery is industrial and there are some hazardous materials such as lead type, cleaning fluids, inks and oils so participants in the workshops must be over 14 and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
